Mining The Mind Field

ive-got-a-war-in-my-mind-quote-1

Dear Friend!

Are you ever plagued with thoughts of insecurity, abandonment or isolation?  Why is it that some tiny thought can blow up into something grand enough to ruin you mentally for the rest of the day or two. Why does what started out to be a good day go awry because someone answered you too flat or stared at you too long?  I have been there!  Hey, if the truth be known, I’m still there some days.  If you’ll give me a few minutes of your time, I’d love to tell you what I’m learning.

Our brain gets a lot of the credit for controlling everything but the mind can be a place of peace or disaster.  The mind is where we decide, where we wonder, where we feel and where we judge. Our perception of events and people start and get shaped right here.  This is the place where seeing someone look at us too long can turn into feelings of, “That lady must admire how I look” or “Why is she staring at me like that?”  This is where we get empowered to stand tall and move ahead or go home and  isolate ourselves.  Insecurity is horrible to feel. It’s like a dark pit with no light.  Loneliness is dark.  It is a war I use to have almost every day.  I don’t know if it was due to something I was taught as a child or picked up along the way.  I’m an only child and I sometimes think that having that lack of constant competition with siblings caused me to try and stay quietly in the background.  That’s when this old mind of mine kicks in!

Lord save me from my mind!

Once this starts, I find myself headed down a path I really don’t want to travel.  Is this you also?  Over the years of surfing the internet, I’ve found out that there are a lot of us out here with these feelings of inadequacy and loneliness.  This can lead to the worst kind of depression if you let it.  You can feel that no one likes you when really you don’t open up to others.  When did this all start? And even more, why?  From this point on, the mind starts to exaggerate everything until it becomes such a powerful enemy.

It’s a powerful enemy indeed!

If we look inside our owner’s manual, which is the bible, we find out that we have a spiritual war going on in our minds.  There’s the light of truth and the darkness of sin from the enemy.  God has promised us happiness. Psalms 29:11 says, “The Lord gives strength to His people; The Lord blesses His people with peace.”  Good thoughts come from God and dark unhealthy thoughts only come from Satan.  It’s as simple as that! Everything starts with a thought and Satan is right there to try and influence how we think.  He thinks that if he can keep us in darkness and despair, we won’t have the energy to get up and study God’s word which is where our help is stored. I don’t know about you but that worked on me for many, many years.  Friend, the bible says the enemy comes like a thief to rob us.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (NKJV)

That thief comes to steal your joy and happiness.  He comes to kill your dreams and aspirations.  He destroys marriages and families.  The battle is set and the battleground is your mind.  It’s time to mine our minds for those nasty thoughts and slay!  Meet me here where we’ll learn how to fight back and reclaim what God has promised us. I encourage you to sign up with your email address so that you can be notified when I post again.  I hate spam and wouldn’t dare push it off on you. In the meantime, be blessed my friend.
