I want to stop, but I can’t

Hello Friends! Let me say to you all:

If you are in a situation where you are trying to stop doing something, but you keep finding yourself stuck in the same routine (looking at pornography, lying, stealing, cheating, putting yourself down, addictions, etc.), know that this is normal! If I had to guess, it may lead you to feeling guilty or shameful because you feel you keep failing at it. Let’s see what the Bible says about it…

In Romans 7 vs 15, Paul is talking and says “For I do not understand what I am doing because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate.” In vs 18, he says “For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.”

Do you often look at other people and say “I can never be that good! I’ve tried and failed!” ? If so, please know there is hope for you! By ourselves, we will absolutely fail at removing many of the we are trying to break free from. BUT…. with Jesus, I promise you, your chains will loosen, and you will eventually find yourself in freedom. You just have to lean on Him, trust in Him, and follow His lead.

Don’t sit in shame about it. As you can see, it is not unnatural for us to fail on our own. The example I provided is in the Bible! Paul was one of the most honest writers, which I believe is incredibly intentional. It teaches us to be fully dependent on God. None of us are perfect, which is why we have grace and need Jesus. Lean on Him so you can experience a new way of walking and decision making.

Much love to you all! <3
