Trust His Reroutes

Hey Hey Friends! It’s been a little while since I posted a blog post here but am grateful to be back in the space! So I just got back from a road trip and am reminded of something that happened a few years ago while I was driving.

Story Time!!!!

I was on my way to Nashville, TN and knew my way pretty well. Even so, I still connect my GPS, just in case. You know how your GPS will propose a new route when there’s an accident or heavy traffic coming? Although you can’t see it, you have to accept the new route, trusting in technology. Well, this happened. It tried to reroute me, but I ignored it, saying to myself “I know where I’m going”. I assume you may know what happened next. Yep, I got stuck in horrific traffic that ended up putting me over an hour behind schedule. Take a guess at how far back the reroute would have put me… 20 minutes!! Oh, it gets better…

I then decided to switch to a different GPS system and found another way. This way ended up sending me on unfamiliar back roads which I was FLYING down to try to make up time. So much so that I got a speeding ticket! At this point, I am now an hour and a half behind schedule. Reminder- If I’d only taken the original detour, I would’ve only lost 20 minutes.

I say all this to ask, does that sound familiar to moments when God has tried to redirect you? *Slowly raises hand* We think we know better. We try to continue on our own path. We think we should have control. We think we know what’s coming, but God is the only one who knows what’s best. He knows what’s ahead that we can’t see, He knows what He’s protecting us from, and He knows where he wants us to go.

Proverbs 20:24 says “Even a courageous person’s steps are determined by the Lord so how can anyone understand his own way?”. We can’t!

In closing, any time you feel that pull from the Holy Spirit to go in a different direction, trust it and do not lean on yourself!

Much love to you all!
