What are you calling yourself?

Hey everyone! Let me ask you a question.

What do you call yourself, in your head, that no one else can see or hear?

Is it positive?

Is it loving?

Are you caring for yourself with those words?

Or are you calling yourself all of the names you have taken on throughout this life? Is it negative? A lot of times it might sound like:

I’m stupid.

I’m a mistake.

I’m a shame.

I’m ugly.

I’m unloveable.

I’m a failure.

The list goes on. Whatever it is, know that anything you’re calling yourself that’s negative is not from God. Let me prove it to you:

Psalm 139: 14 says “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that full well.” This was actually one of the first verses I memorized because self talk circled around my head constantly. What helped me was knowing that God made me with such purpose. He loves me abundantly and there’s nothing I can do to change that. And it’s the same for YOU!

If you’ve taken on the names that others have given you in the past (or possibly your present), break that today! God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

He calls you by name.

He calls you beautiful.

He calls you amazing.

He created you, His best creation.

So if you’re struggling with this today, plant this verse on your heart and memorize it. He loves you too much to call you anything other than all things good!

Much love!
